About

Dr. Rani Ojha is a cancer cell biologist with expertise in ribosome-associated quality control (RQC), ribotoxic stress response, and mitochondrial metabolism in cancer. Her research investigates how cancer cells adapt to translational and metabolic stress through pathways such as RQC, ribophagy, and reverse electron transfer (RET), with a particular focus on bladder cancer, tumor progression, stemness, and chemoresistance. Dr. Ojha received her Ph.D. from PGIMER, Chandigarh, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, USA), and a second postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University (California, USA). She joined PGIMER in 2021 as an Assistant Professor and is currently serving as an Associate Professor. Her laboratory integrates molecular biology, proteomics, and preclinical cancer models to identify novel stress-adaptation mechanisms and uncover therapeutic vulnerabilities that can be translated into improved cancer treatments.
